OCTOBER 19 “THIS WEEK IN THE MUSIC OF NONVIOLENT RESISTANCE”

The legendary folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary released their Holiday Concert DVD this week in 2011.

For more than 50 years, the trio recorded and sung tens of folk and protest songs at numerous activist events. Most famously, the group sang at the 1963 March on Washington at the Lincoln Memorial, a march of 250000 people for jobs and freedom. Two years later, the group also sang out for racial justice at the 1965 Selma to Montgomery March.
